The End of the World as We Know It

Apologies to R.E.M but it is end of the world blogfest for Hart Johnson - The Watery Tart herself. I've almost had the end of the world so I am a little slow on the release blog (which is indeed Thursday so.... run right out and buy buy buy)

She's got a new serial she's releasing and the cover is here:

Hart provides this plug so ...plug away plug away ...

Deadliest virus in a century, or a social experiment gone awry?

Every year they warned about the flu and more often than not, it amounted to nothing. Sidney Knight, a young freelance reporter had certainly never written on it. But a trip to Lincoln City, Oregon, cut short by a beach full of dead seagulls and a panicked warning from her brother the scientist catch her attention.

This batch is different. Deadlier. And the vaccine doesn't seem to be helping. It almost looks like it's making it worse...

A Flock of Ill Omens: Part I is the first episode of A Shot in the Light, an Apocalypse Conspiracy Tale about what happens when people play God for fun and profit. There will be approximately ten episodes, each the equivalent of about 100 pages. Good Reads has a sneak peak posted  here. You can find the purchase link and more information about the book here. And if you want it FOR FREE, I will be offering it free on the release dates of at least the next two in the serial: September 19 and October 10.

Hart Johnson writes books from her bathtub and can be found at Confessions of a Watery Tart though be warned. She is likely to lead you into shenanigans.

As part of her blogfest, she's asked some of us to comment on our vision of the end of the world.

For my money, Arthur C. Clark has it wrapped up (I'll paraphrase):

We're either alone in the universe, or we're not.  It's a binary option. Each is frightening.

For my perspective on the end-game mayhem, what are the odds of us being the big dog on the block?  You can fill the rest in yourself. I'm going down to the planning commission and have a look before the Vogons show up.

Keep writing. They're gaining on us.

Best to Hart and the new serial. I'll be reading it. You should, too.

HA! Aliens! Nice! (for the record, I'm with you... chances we are alone in the universe, not likely) Thank you so much for helping spread the word, Jack!
