Cue the Laughter

At left, an image of Caruso as Pagliacci.

Hope all is well for all. I'm writing instead of writing about writing. It makes for an inactive blog but it drives forward my goals and so ...

I've been working a draft and it has been hard.

I have discovered that my very dark story about the very dark topic of murder does better with humor.

To make humor, the reflection of the thing must be funny -- not the thing itself.

It isn't the joke. It is the effect of the joke.

Not unlike horror.

I'm off to work on prose. I hope all of you are as well.
